Denver-based coffee roaster and nonprofit Project C.U.R.E welcomes Her Excellency Margaret Kenyatta at First Ladies Luncheon; provides $400,000 worth of medical supplies
March 11, 2016– DENVER, Colo. – A relationship that extends over seven years, Boca Java, a division of Luna Gourmet Coffee & Tea Company in conjunction with Project C.U.R.E, welcomes with great honor the First Lady of Kenya, Margaret Kenyatta, as well as Kenyan delegates to accept a medical supply container in aid to the Republic of Kenya. The luncheon is underway at 11 a.m. on March 18.
Project C.U.R.E.’s First Ladies Luncheon is a fundraising event that brings awareness to the humanitarian efforts of First Ladies’ from around the world. Joining this year’s 1,000-plus guests list is humanitarian and wife of Senator John McCain, Cindy McCain. All will join together to raise money to support the need for vital medical attention and equipment to Kenyan facilities identified by the First Lady. 100% of the donations at the event will be delivered to Kenyan hospitals in need.
The largest-family owned coffee roaster in the state of Colorado is an industry leader in ethically sourcing initiatives with a variety of certifications. As the cargo sponsor of the medical supply container valued at over $400,000, the C.U.R.E. Coffee program has delivered over $800,000 worth of medical relief globally to combat highly preventable health complications from the lack of supplies in clinics as well as medical education in developing countries.
“We know that the value of a great cup of coffee delivers more than an energetic start to the day and that’s why the C.U.R.E. Coffee program was created,” said President Jason Barrow who is also Co-Owner. “This initiative is bigger than all of us. We are humbled by the long-standing relationship with Project C.U.R.E. and thrilled to be able to provide this donation while creating awareness and importance of being ethically motivated in ones operation.”
Making a difference each morning with your coffee selection is now easier than ever with the Project C.U.R.E. Coffee subscription program. $3 of every 8 oz. purchase of C.U.R.E. Coffee Kenya delivers a 20x multiplier, enabling $60 worth of medical relief with each purchase. Purchasing a three-month subscription provides three pounds of coffee and donates $360 worth of supplies to the cause.
“We are excited to expand our coffee offering to include this Kenya single-origin coffee within the Project C.U.R.E. Coffee lineup,” said Roastmaster and Co-Owner Douglass Barrow. “Kenya’s landscape produces a distinctive bean that translates to a very good cup of coffee. Making this coffee available through our coffee club subscription enables us to provide fresh roasted-to-order coffee, while working toward our goal of donating more containers to those areas in which we source.”
Kenya produces one of the world’s most-prized and highly sought Arabica coffee, Kenya AA. Sharing a coastline with the Indian Ocean, this East African country has fertile soil where the coffee is grown at high-altitude (1600-2650 meters), ideal for producing 100% Arabica coffee beans with unique taste attributes. C.U.R.E Coffee Kenya delivers a bright finish with a hint of black currant and citrus fruits native to the growing region. Learn more: CureCoffee.org
Project C.U.R.E. Coffees are sourced from the finest farms producing the best coffees through a Direct Trade relationship with the farmers. This means that we go direct to origin and work with the finest farms providing the best coffees. This ensures we not only source from the best, but also means that these farmers, who typically live in poverty, receive more money to put back into their communities and the environment.
